Towfiiq umbrella organisation was formed to respond to the needs of the community from the effects of the long civil war that gripped the country and left it in turmoil. The state collapse and civil war in Somalia followed by years of inter-clan conflict in Somalia that led to the excessive destruction of both public and private infrastructures due to the lawlessness and chaos resulted to the formation of Somali resilience and Aid organization. Towfiiq Umbrella Organisation (TUOS) was formed by a group of professions from different professional backgrounds to contribute and provide humanitarian relief and development to the Somalia communities. TUOS was formed in 2004 in Mogadishu as a non profit organisation passionate about long term solutions and ripple effect projects results.

Towfiiq umbrella organisation is a local non-governmental non- profit making and non political organisation aimed at providing humanitarian assistance to bring about peace, relief and development. TUOS is registered with the ministry of Interior and local government of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the ministry of interior and federal affairs of Galmudug State. The organisation main office is in Dhusamareb with sub offices in Mogadishu and Galkayo South

TUOS has been providing humanitarian services in South Central Somalia namely, Hiran, Galgadud, Lower and Middle Shabelle and Jubba, Mogadishu among other regions since its inception. The organisation has two members, local NGOs who provide humanitarian services in different areas and sectors in South Central Somalia. The organisations are:-

• Community concern Somalia (CCS)
• Community development initiative (CDI)

TUOS as an organisation also conducts humanitarian programs as an entity. The organisation implements community development programs in protection, nutrition, health, WASH, vocational skills training, emergency response and relief, environment, awareness and advocacy, agriculture and education. TUOS in its implementation of work promotes community participation in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in order to improve accountability, transparency and sustainability of its interventions.
